You have a website. It exists. But something isn’t right — you just don’t know exactly what. Or maybe you do, but you’re not ready to say it out loud. Here are five clear signs it’s time for a change.
1. You can’t reach your web designer
You send an email. Nothing. You follow up. Nothing. After a week, you get a short reply — or none at all. Your website has an issue, you need a change, and you’re just sitting there waiting.
Availability isn’t optional — it’s a fundamental requirement for professional collaboration. If your web designer doesn’t respond, you’re effectively without support for your most important digital asset.
2. Your website is slow — and they shrug it off
You’ve pointed out slow loading times. The response was something like: “That’s just how it is,” “Nothing can be done,” or “It’s the hosting.”
That’s almost never true. A slow website is usually the result of poor optimization: unoptimized images, too many plugins, missing caching, or bad code. A good web designer knows this — and fixes it.
3. You can’t edit your own website
You want to change a text, swap an image, or add a new team member. And every time you have to ask your designer — wait, and pay for every small change.
A professionally built WordPress website should be manageable by you. If not, it was either poorly built or you’ve been intentionally made dependent. Both are unacceptable.
4. Your website looks like it’s from 2015
Design ages. What looked modern ten years ago — sliders with five images, long loading animations, cluttered homepages — now feels outdated and unprofessional.
Your website is often the first impression a potential client has of you. An outdated design signals: nobody is taking care of this.
A good web designer keeps you updated and proactively suggests redesigns when needed. If no one is having that conversation, no one will.
5. You have no idea what your website is doing
How many visitors did you have last month? Which page gets the most views? Where do your visitors come from? If you can’t answer these questions — and your designer has never provided that data — you’re missing the foundation to improve your site.
A professional website includes tracking and analytics. Analytics isn’t a luxury — it’s the basis for data-driven decisions.
